CCEA GCSE Syllabus

What you will be learning

The course provides pupils with opportunities to choose, use and design information and communication systems to carry out a range of tasks and to solve problems, making effective use of appropriate principles and techniques. It also provides opportunities to develop a broad and balanced experience of the range of information and communication systems and their applications and an understanding of their capabilities and limitations.

The syllabus covers the following content:

· Knowledge, Understanding and Skills in communicating, handling information and modelling

· Understanding of ICT Systems in everyday life

· Implications of ICT for individuals, organisations and society

How you will be assessed

Six set assignments worth 60%

Two examination papers worth 40%

Coursework

Students will produce six pieces of coursework which are internally assessed and externally moderated. Some of the assignments provide students with the opportunity to incorporate ICT related work carried out in other subjects.

Examination assessment

The scheme of assessment consists of two tiers: Foundation and Higher Tier. The Foundation Tier assesses grades C to G and the Higher Tier assess grades A* to D.
