At Integrated College Dungannon, homework is an integral element of the educational experience delivered to each student. It is also a vital link between the College and parents, a means of informing parents about what their child has been learning. Staff provide students with meaningful and relevant homework tasks and follow the guidelines set in Department Homework Policies. At the beginning of each academic year, all students are provided with all necessary materials to record and monitor homework set and completed.

Homework will be used to:

• Consolidate, revise, practice, extend work covered in class;

• Prepare for forthcoming lessons;

• Encourage self-motivation and discipline as well as developing time-management and organisational skills;

• Develop research skills;

• Allow teachers to assess what students have learnt;

• Enable parents/guardians to take an active role in the education of their child.
