Mathematics will be offered at:
- Advanced Subsidiary Level (AS Level)
- Advanced Level (AS & A2)
WHAT YOU WILL BE LEARNING ABOUT
This course enables students to:
- Consolidate and extend the knowledge, skills and understanding
developed in Key Stage 4;
- Demonstrate positive attitudes and achievements towards learning
and applying Mathematics;
- Develop ability and confidence in the application of Mathematics;
- Develop skills of modelling, generalisation and interpretation
of results relevant to both the application and development of
Mathematics;
- Acquire a sound base of knowledge, skills and attitudes required
for further study in Mathematics, in other subjects and in employment.
HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED
The scheme of assessment has a modular structure. Students can
chose six modules if they are studying A’ Level Mathematics
and three for the award of AS Level. Students may sit these assessment
units in either the winter or summer examination sessions.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
A' Level Mathematics provides opportunities to pursue a number
of careers including Accountancy, Actuarial, Teaching, Engineering,
Statistician, Economist, Financial Consultancy etc.
