A' Level History

CCEA Advanced GCE in History.

Students wishing to do A’ Level History must achieve a grade B in GCSE History.

WHAT YOU WILL BE LEARNING ABOUT

The course for History comprises six modules :

1. The Nazis and Germany 1919 – 1945

2. Fascism and Italy 1918 – 1943

3. Revolutionary Change in Russia 1917 – 1941

4. The Causes of the Second World War 1918 – 1941

5. Nationalism and Unionism in Ireland 1800 – 1900

6. The Partition of Ireland 1900 – 1925

HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED

Assessment is by examination (AS and A2 Level)

Assessment Objectives :

  • Recall, select and deploy historical knowledge accurately, and communicate knowledge and understanding of History in a clear and effective manner.
  • Present historical explanations showing understanding of appropriate concepts and arrive at substantiated judgements.
  • In relation to historical context :
    • interpret, evaluate and use a range of source material.
    • explain and evaluate interpretations of historical events and topics studied.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

A Level History provides opportunities to pursue a number of careers including those in Conservation and Environmental work, Town Planning, Tourism, Building Restoration, Journalism, Television Research, the Police, the Legal profession , the Civil and Diplomatic Services, Teaching, Libraries, Antiques, etc.
