ICD Success at Integrated Colleges’ Cross Country Championships
At the recently held Integrated Colleges' Cross Country Championships students from Integrated College Dungannnon (ICD) enjoyed considerable success. ICD were represented at the event held in Oakgrove Integrated College in Derry by a squad of 27 runners and they all performed admirably. In the Minor Boys' Race, Pearse Loughran led from the start to come home in first place. There were other good performances from James Eden and Aidan Cairns. In the Junior Girls' Race, Katie Rice picked her way through the field to finish in third place. The Junior Boys' team ran strongly with Deimantas Endzielaitis 4th, Gary Cairns 5th, Pearse Loughran 6th and Jordan Boyd 11th. The total of 27 points was enough to secure the Team title. The Intermediate Boys' Team followed this up with a strong performance to also win the team title. Barry Quinn came through the field to finish 1st, with the other scorers Conor Traynor 4th, James Nesbitt 10th and James Kavanagh 12th. Following on from this in the Senior Girls' race Megan Bothwell ran a controlled race to come home in 1st place. Not to be outdone, the Senior Boys' Team of Cormac Dolan, Joseph Collins, Chris Nesbitt and Jason Yau also secured the team title. ICD Principal, Andrew Sleeth who was delighted with the
students'; successes said, Mr Sleeth continued, 'As always our cross country
runners have represented the college admirably. This has been a very
successful outing for the students of ICD, with 3 individual winners
and 3 team titles secured. They can look forward to the rest of the
season with confidence'. |
