Running Success for ICD students
21 October, 2008

At recent events in Dungannon and Donegal students from ICD performed well to win medals.

At the Felix McCullough Road Race, Fionnuala Ross ran a strong race to finish 1st in the U19 girls category. This was Fionnuala's second success at this event. In the fun run preceeding the main race Emma Rice came home 1st place.

At the recent Donegal Schools Cross Country Championships ICD students were successful in a number of races. In the U13 Boys race Gary Cairns came home in 7th place, closely followed by Jaxan Archer and Jordan Boyd to claim 3rd place in the team event. In the U15 girls race, Emma Rice recovered from a slow start to finish strongly and come home in 1st place. In the next race Joseph Collins and Cormac Dolan ran superbly to finish 1st and 3rd respectively. They were followed by Fionnuala Ross and Megan Bothwell who also came home in 1st and 3rd place in the U18 Girls race.

Overall ICD students enjoyed a successful day out and they can look forward with confidence to upcoming races in Armagh and Belfast.

Praising the students Mr Rice, Head of PE said, 'Over the years ICD has maintained a strong team of cross country runners. These students practice regularly attending after schools clubs and their commitment has paid off for them at the recent events. I'd like to congratulate all the students who participated and believe they can look forward to more success in the near future.'
