ICD Year 9 Soccer team, dominate but share the points.

Team: Arek Mickolaiczyk, David Macolmson, Christopher Smith ,Jordan Boyd , Deimantas Enzieliatas , Mark Hetherington , Dylan Pointon Gary Cairns , Daniel McHugh , Bryan Casey ,Nathan McNally, Bradley Curran , Ryan Quinn , Pearse Loughran ,Ruben Basto.

ICD Year 9 Soccer team got their league fixtures off to a good start on Thursday 4 th February with a 2-2 draw with Tandragee Junior High School. On a windy day it looked as if ICD would run out comfortable winners after a first 10 minutes of constant attack resulting in a well timed volley from Pearse Loughran from just in side the box. ICD looked like scoring with every attack and are showing signs of gelling as a team with attendance at training an important factor. There were good performances all over the pitch with Bryan Casey and Jordan Boyd looking solid at the back, and the midfield of Smith and Enzieliatas linking well with our wingers and strikers.

The second goal for ICD came shortly after when a well hit shot from Ryan Quinn could only be palmed out by the Tandragee goal keeper for our top goal scorer Gary Cairns to pounce on at the second attempt. Tandragee got back into the game with a penalty appeal which the referee gave and as a result was converted.

The second half brought much of the same with our wingers Pearse Loughran and Ryan Quinn attacking well and creating chances, Loughran carried the ball into the Tandragee penalty area taking it past three defenders only to be taken down at the last minute, unfortunately the referee did not agree and waved play on, to the disbelief of the spectators.

In the last moments of the game Tandragee had a chance on the edge of the areawhich was volleyed in at pace which left everyone watching as the ball flew into the corner of the net, an excellent finish.

A good start to the league with a point gained, and the next fixture will be on Thursday 25 th February at Markethill kick-off 11am.
