RE Department Rational

At Integrated College Dungannon we believe that each child should be given the opportunity to develop personally morally and spiritually through Religious Education syllabus.

The Department intends to expose all pupils to positive learning experiences and to use their existing knowledge to assist in the study of the beliefs and practices of others in order to develop tolerance and respect for others which will contribute to the development of a more just and harmonious society.

The syllabus studied at the college is what has been laid down by the Northern Ireland Curriculum in accordance with the four main churches that is the Catholic Presbyterian Methodist and Church of Ireland traditions. The College however does take account of other world faiths. Students will be introduced to the ideas beliefs and practices of the major world traditions and humanist philosophies.
