Year 8 Poetry competition - winning poems Wayne Rooney
He’s Wayne Rooney
He plays for Man U
Anything you want I’m sure he can do.
He tackles, runs and passes the ball.
Like no other I’ve ever seen at all.
He goes left and right and passes them all,
Through the defence like a train.
He gets the ball back again,
He shoots and scores,
The crowd roars “Rooney Rooney”.
by Lee Grimley.
El Dude
El Dude zooms down to save a cat in a tree,
He’s a magnificent dare-devil, the people agree.
He does back flips, handstands, winks at people who fall,
People stare in amazement as he does the spider crawl.
He beats his chest like an ape-man as he swings down to save a child,
People say he’s amazing, teachers say he’s wild.
Everyone says his identity remains a mystery.
But I know who El Dude is – my best mate, Gerry!
by Rachel Cameron.
