Child Development

GCSE Child Development

Child Development was introduced into the college as a GCSE subject in 2000 and has allowed students to explore both the practical and theoretical aspects of a child’s development and care.

Trips to local hospitals, crèches and guest speakers coming into the college has enhanced the students’ enjoyment and understanding of the subject.

Many ICD students have gone on to take courses leading to professional qualifications in the area of childcare.

The subject is one of many examples of ICD’s aim to provide something for everyone within its curriculum and to impart the transferable skills that the students will take out into the wider world.
