Soccer ICD 2 – 3 Lurgan Junior High The under-13’s lost the Mid-Ulster Cup Final, as well as
their unbeaten record, when they went down 3-2 to a good Lurgan
Junior High School side on Wednesday 3rd May at Dungannon Swifts
F.C. Marty Gervin gave the ICD a first-half lead from a corner but
Lurgan equalised just before the break. After a handball by Joe
Collins, the visitors were given a penalty which they duly converted.
With time running out, Aaron McCann went on a dangerous run but
was then upended by the opposition keeper. Seanan Clucas slotted
home the resultant spot-kick to take the game into extra-time. Towards
the end of the first period, Lurgan scored the decisive goal to
win the trophy. Mid-Ulster Cup Semi-final Tuesday 21st March 2006 Clounagh High School 0 – 1 ICD This was an excellent performance against the winners of the Mid-Ulster Large School’s League. ICD dominated the match and should have had more goals to show for it other than the one scored by Nathan McCausland just before half-time. Ryan Donnelly and Marty Gervin were superb at the back and Joe Collins was again very dangerous in midfield. Cormac Dolan had his best game for the College at left-back and also popped up in the opposition box a couple of times where he almost scored. The man of the match however was captain Seanan Clucas who was behind virtually every attacking move that ICD had. His strength, determination and leadership impressed everyone who saw the game. The final is due to be played in a couple of weeks time at an Irish League ground against opponents who are as yet unknown. Something to look forward to for the unbeaten league champions! Team: Justin Cumberland, Michael
Harte, Cormac Dolan, Marty Gervin, Ryan Donnelly, Jay Dillon, Seanan
Clucas (capt.), Joe Collins, Bernard McKeever, Aaron McCann (sub.
Jason Boyd), Nathan McCausland. ICD MID-ULSTER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS The Under-13 Integrated College soccer team won the Mid-Ulster League when they defeated holders Tandragee High School 5-0 on a cold, wind, rainswept afternoon in Dungannon. Two goals each from Joe Collins and Marty Gervin and one from Nathan McCausland were enough to defeat the visitors and remain unbeaten for the entire season. Joe Collins was awesome throughout the game and was named man of the match. Ryan Donnelly was superb yet again at sweeper and skipper Seanan Clucas was inspirational in midfield. Big centre-half Marty Gervin was unlucky not to get a hat-trick after his bullet-like header from a Clucas corner went just over the bar and there were narrow misses also by Aaron McCann and Collins later on in the game. Justin Cumberland made a vital one-on-one save when the score was three-nil and was commanding throughout. During the course of the season the team has played the likes of Drumcree, Markethill, Newry High and Aughnacloy and has scored a total of twenty-seven goals, conceding only five. They are very dangerous from set-pieces where the delivery of Clucas is usually superb. Jay Dillon, Aaron McCan and Nathan McCausland are a handful up front for any side and Cormac Dolan is not afraid to join them from his wide-left position. Peter McKernan was unfortunately injured prior to the game against Tandragee but Bernard McKeever stepped in and produced a solid performance at full-back, ably supported on the other side by Michael Harte. The mainstay of the defence is Ryan Donnelly who has been immense and influential all season. Coach, John Leckey speaking at the Integrated College praised the team saying, “Well done to the lads on a great achievement. They are a great group of boys, they play as a team and that’s been evident by their successes to date. Good luck to them in the forthcoming semi-final of the Mid-Ulster Cup” Past Results U13 Soccer Schools Cup Game played on Friday 3rd February 2006. Drumcree College 2 ICD 5 A very comfortable league win which improves the record of the ICD to three wins and one draw so far this season. Defender Martin Gervin scored two, the second of which any centre-forward would have been proud. Nathan McCausland also scored a couple and Seanan Clucas struck the other from the edge of the box. Jay Dillon and Martin Gervin were superb but captain Seanan Clucas was named man of the match yet again!
U13 Soccer Schools Cup Game played on Wednesday 18th Jan 2006. Newry High School 2 3 Integrated College Dungannon A very hard, physical game in which there were some very hefty challenges made by both sides, including a particularly nasty one on Cormac Dolan, who had to be carried off the pitch. The game finished 2-2 after normal time thanks to goals by Joe Collins and a wonder strike by Aaron McCann. With one minute of extra-time left, Nathan McCausland was fouled in the area and Seanan Clucas coolly stroked home the winning penalty. A great result against one of the cup favourites. Skipper Seanan Clucas was undoubtedly man of the match and Justin Cumberland made some crucial saves late in the game. On Wednesday 23rd
