Netball Yr 9 Alpha League final
The final of the Aplha
League was played out in a closely contested game which unfortunately
for ICD was not reflected in the final score line. Latest Results Recently,
the Year 9 and Year 10 netball teams had triumphant wins over
St.Patrick’s College, Dungannon, with the Year 10 team defeating
their opponents by an impressive 15 points. The Year 9 and Year
10 team’s lucky streak continued when they played Keady
High School and won yet again, with the Year 10’s conceding
only one point. There were excellent performances from Zexia Shillingford,
Melissa McGlackin and Nicole McClelland. Special mention to the
Year 8’s who supported the teams and played as substitutes.
Good luck to both teams who will now play Armagh City High to
qualify for the Alpha League semi-finals. Mid- Ulster League Girls Hockey The year 10 girls Hockey team won their match 1v0 against Armagh High School today in the Mid- Ulster League. Goal scorer was Amy Thompson. Superb performances from Rebecca Nicholl in goals and a fine game from the defensive quartet: Zoe martin, Zoe Templeton, Tracey Watson and Jayde Grant. Strangford opened the scoring within seconds of the game starting and moved into a three goal lead before ICD got off the mark. ICD were showing initial signs of nerves on the big occasion but soon got into the rhythm of the game and settled down to the task in hand. ICD were picking up a lot of possession especially through the hard working centre, Zoe Martin. Although the Dungannon side were enjoying a lot of the ball through the two wing players , Zoe Templeton and Christina Nicholl, Strangford defence were marking very closely and making it difficult for the shooters Zexia Shillingford and Jadye Grant to create scoring chances. In defence for ICD Melissa Glackin and Nicole Mc Clelland were containing the Stangford shooters but some accurate passing from the out field players created a lot of valuable space which the scorers maximised on. In the final third of the game Kirsty Mc Dowell replaced Christina Nicholl at wing defence with a solid performance. Congratulations to Strangford College on a comprehensive victory
and credit to ICD on a very promising performance. Team members:
